The Yellow Book 2015 (Rethinkyourmind)

This is one of the biggest projects I’ve had to date, a full 145 page book layout job. This is ‪#‎TheYellowBook‬ which I did for an organisation called Rethink Your Mind

The Yellow Book’s purpose is to promote positive wellbeing and help those with mental health issues. My role in this project was retouching images, creating the page/spread assets and designing some assets for the book.

Mental health and positive wellbeing are very important and I was very happy to contribute and help raise awareness for a cause like this, especially in the capacity of a designer.

HTC M8S Illustration

From all the InDesign work I’ve done over the last few months, I’ve lost a little practice making something from scratch. So I decided to do an Illustration of a random thing near me just so I don’t get rusty. I chose my phone – the HTC M8s

Here it is:

Moving Inwards – Refuge

Recently I worked with the good people at Refuge, Rethinkyourmind and Moving Inwards to produce a wide variety of media for different purposes. One of them was for an event tonight July 11 at the Donkey Bar in Leicester to launch their new CD Moving Inwards

I designed the poster, flyers, CD art and the actual CD – all can be seen in my Portfolio section.

Profits from CD sales will help them to provide more mental health ward workshops.

Tumblr’s new iOS update

I like being reminded that the industry I like to work isn’t as serious as a lot of others. Today the new update for tumblr on my iPad gave me that reminder. It’s genius!  (image below)

My Week at Seed

I spent a week at Creative Media Studio on a short term contract…and it was awesome!

It was called Seed Creativity and probably one of the best working environments I’ve been in. It was just like being back at Uni, except I was really productive.  When I was there, my brief was to take written text, turn it into infographics on Illustrator before prepping them for animation.

It was a great week that opened with the director cooking currygoat and rice for the office and it got better from there. Met a good group of people including Senika from Leicester College who I gave a crash course in WordPress in. She’s quite a character and probably one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met whether its in media, journalism or arts and crafts – she makes her own jewellery.

Also got a slight insight into the creation of the Cultural Quarter app – a guide to show you where to go and what to do in THE place to be in Leicester.

Thanks for giving me the chance to be there Jonny – would love to be back at the office.
